Brand names only, not store brands--that means that meat with no brand is not eligible for price match, but other meat (like USDA choice). Also, any pre-packaged produce must specify the brand. So, their 10-lb sack of potatoes or 3-lb bags of apples and even packages of berries must still match the brand name, but all bulk items do not require a brand name (you can pick out the apples or potatoes one-by-one).

Caveat: For very expensive items, or items where the savings is greater than 50%, they will check the ad. If they do not have the ad at the store, they may ask you to provide it. They prefer the hard copy, but an electronic copy is acceptable. This is how the manager is able to allow price matches from so far away.

ReplyDeleteI shopt at the Roanoke Walmart on 377 and they price matched produce with no issues. The only thing they wouldn't price match was my chicken because they said it wasn't the same brand/size. But there wasn't a brand listed in the ad.
ReplyDeleteThe checker was really picky about everything though. He said people try to do stores too far away, but didn't know what distance they accepted when I asked.
Michelle, you got a bad checker. I shop there all the time and 98% of the time, they are great. I called the manager and they said they would match anything in a 50 mile radius. They also match BOGO. You must have had Justin! Also, don't get Carrie. But the rest are usually great.
DeleteI also shop at the Roanoke Walmart on 377 and they will do BOGO free same item only, and they price match in a 100 mile radius. If you get a nice checker, look for him/her the next time.
ReplyDeleteHey Carma! I just spoke with CSM Suzanne at the Hickory Creek Walmart. She said that she will honor any local ad, including Terry's, Aldi's, and El Rancho as long as they can verify the price AND meat must be Walmart brand meat and any details have to match exactly. They usually have the ads from those stores in their weekly stash.
ReplyDeleteWalmart in Denton on university said they will not price match great value brand with other store brand. They will not price match their meats. Everything must be name brand. Now the meats doesn't seem right to me based on their policy.
ReplyDeleteSorry I just called University and they will price match the meat. It has to be Pilgrims Chicken for Pilgrims Chicken. And they will match the lb for lb. it just can't be from the butcher. Like Kroger has a butcher so they will just follow ad closely which I'm cool with. I usually buy 93/7 and they will honor those meats as long as it is lb for lb and not from butcher. Her name was Vicky the manager today. I guess I will no longer be able to price match store brand milk, eggs and cheese. Keep up the good work. I love this site and I tell everyone about it.
DeleteI was at the Denton Walmart off University and I35 today and was told that they were no longer price matching meats from El Rancho. I see that you have commented that they will not match anything from El Rancho or Terry's since the end of 2012. All she said today was meats. So maybe they are doing other products? I will have to ask next time I have more time. Thanks for your site, I tell all my friends about it...unfortunately, they are all into high-end organics and food co-ops....but I appreciate your efforts and love the savings!!
